Dear Central Islip Community and Staff,

The Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School has five staff members and one student that have tested positive for COVID-19. The Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School closed on October 20 and will reopen on November 4. In the interim, all students and staff will follow a fully remote schedule until in-person learning resumes. Any new developments or adjustments to the schedule will be shared with the community and staff as more information becomes available.

The Central Islip Union Free School District (CIUFSD) is collaborating with the Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS). Contact tracing is underway; all affected persons will be notified by either the CIUFSD or the SCDHS.

I understand this announcement represents a disruption to your daily lives and schedules; however, it is important to remember that every precautionary step is intended to put the safety of our community first. Please, if any staff member, student or family member feels ill, contact a medical provider. I urge the school community to continue adhering to and enforcing the safety guidelines issued by the CIUFSD and SCDHS. As always, the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff is our priority.

Be well,
