Suffolk County 9th District Legislator Samuel Gonzalez recognized Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Sharon A. Dungee during a special ceremony on September 17. Also presenting Ms. Dungee with a proclamations was New York State Senator Monica Martinez. Ms. Dungee was recognized for her endorsement of the Youth Employment Access Program, an initiative which instills work ethics and skills to develop resumes for those who enter the workforce.


Ms. Dungee was additionally cited for her outstanding contributions and commitment to education in the Central Islip Union Free School District. Legislator Gonzalez recognized Ms. Dungee for her avid volunteerism throughout Suffolk County and the Central Islip Community in her efforts to make Suffolk County a better and brighter place.


Ms. Dungee is a past recipient of the Town of Islip's Community Member of the Year Award for her work in education and youth development and enrichment. She serves on the Board of Trustees of the Central Islip Public Library and the Great South Bay YMCA.


Ms. Dungee received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Old Westbury, a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and a Professional Diploma in School District Administration from LIU at CW Post.


Ms. Dungee accepted with gratitude the recognition she received and underscored the imperative to advocate for our children and young adults.
