The Grants & Curriculum Committee recently convened to review a newly-adopted mathematics program: 'Math Their Way.' Kindergarten teachers and teaching assistants received intense training, practicing the methodologies and strategies that will be utilized in the kindergarten classrooms to enhance our program (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Go Math), and to allow for more meaningful instruction that our youngest learners will benefit from. The goal of the activities within this program is to help children develop an understanding of, and insight into the patterns of mathematics. The activities are designed to help young children see relationships and interconnections in mathematics, and to enable them to develop flexibly with mathematical ideas and concepts. The Grants & Curriculum Meeting is chaired by School Board Member Dan Devine and comprised of its members: School Board Member Fred Philips;  School Board Member Glenn Mitchell; Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Sharon A, Dungee; Funded Programs Administrator Marie Holdsworth, Ph.D.; English Language Arts Director Ann Bucco; Assistant Director for Funded Program Stacey Morgan; Assistant Director for Special Education Renee Dash; Teacher Maureen Esposito; SEPTA President Arlene Philips; Member Florence Joyner; and Resident, Rosa Quiles.
