Winter Choral Festival Lights Up the Stage at Central Islip High School

The show opened with the Mixed Choir conducted by Choral Director John Anthony. The presentation featured members of the Reed Middle School Choir. The joint ensemble was accompanied by Reed Middle School Chorus Director Elizabeth Giglio. Song and dance took center stage as the Show Choir performed their selections directed by Mr. Anthony and choreographed by Ms. Jeanine Ecklund. The Treble Choir sang songs of the season under the direction of Music Teacher Theresa O'Connor with accompaniment provided by Music Teacher George  McKenzie, then rocked the house during their finale with their rendition of Dancing Queen. The highly auditioned and nationally popular Sweet Adelines sang their acapella vocals under the direction of Ms. O'Connor. The internationally acclaimed Central Islip High School Concert Choir, under the direction of Mr. Anthony sang a wide variety of holiday selections opening with O Come, O Come Emmanuel. They received a standing ovation for their rendition of The 12 Days of Christmas and finished their program as they were joined by Concert Choir alumni where The Hallelujah Chorus was a highlight and an audience favorite. Joining families and friends of the students for their Winter Festival were School Board Vice President Michele Harriott, School Board members William G. Softy and Glenn C. Mitchell, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Howard M. Koenig, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Sharon A. Dungee, Director of Music Education & Instructional Technology Philip K. Voigt, Central Islip High School  Principal Timothy Lynam and Assistant Principals Olivia DeSilva, Michael Blum and James Crawford.
