Students enrolled in Central Islip School District's Elementary School Summer Enrichment Program, which was held at O'Neill Elementary School, enjoyed participating in a wide array of literacy and math-based activities designed to reinforce these academic skills over summer vacation. Program Administrator, Ms. Tracy Rentz-McLeod, Literacy Coordinator Ms. Kathy Gallagher, and Math Coordinator Ms. Allison Philips coordinated the program's month-long activities with elementary school teachers. Throughout the month of July, 279 students attended the program both in person and virtually. Superintendent of Schools Ms. Sharon A. Dungee lauded the program for the numerous advantages from which students benefited, and acknowledges the teachers, students and their families for their commitment to the program. The Elementary School Summer Enrichment Program culminated in a 'backyard campout' at O'Neill Elementary, where students participated in games, poetry, read-aloud stories, arts, crafts and origami, and physical education activities. Images in this slide presentation showcase the fun filled activities of the 'backyard campout.'
