Central Islip Board of Education President, Mr. Norman A. Wagner, was inducted into the Board of Education's Hall of Fame on May 9, 2022. Mr. Wagner was recognized for his nearly 40 years of volunteer service on the Central Islip Board of Education, as President of the Central Islip Public Library, he is co-chair of the Central Islip Memorial Day Parade, he was elected to and serves on the Executive Board of the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association, affiliated with the New York State Council/Knights of Columbus, Past Grand Knight of the Reverend James V. Rogan/Father John P. Halpin Council #1816 of the Knights of Columbus (Central Islip), and the Shrine of St. Anne Council #4752 Knights of Columbus (Brentwood), served two terms on the New York State Advisory Committee to the US Commission on Civil Rights, represents Central Islip School District on the Town of Islip's Downtown Revitalization Committee, and was last month elected to the Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Special guests joined the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Ms. Sharon A. Dungee, Staff, and the Community at the School Board Meeting for this event. Offering proclamations and presentations were the incoming Executive Director of the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association, Mr. Robert Vecchio; Suffolk County 9th District Legislator, Mr. Sam Gonzalez; and Islip Town Supervisor, Ms. Angie Carpenter. Congressman Andrew Garbarino, New York State Assemblyman Philip Ramos, and New York State Senator Alexis Weik were in Washington DC and Albany, and prepared proclamations which were presented at the ceremony. President Joseph Biden also sent a message to Mr. Wagner. The Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Ms. Sharon A. Dungee, Administration, Faculty, Staff and Community congratulate Mr. Wagner on his induction into the Central Islip Board of Education's Hall of Fame.
